Writing Across Borders: From Sweden to Cyprus

Over the last few years, Thomas has lived in a few different countries while working as a writer in the gaming industry. After a while, one of the first things he looked for when moving to a new city was a local Shut Up & Write! group.

After joining his first writing group in Warsaw before the pandemic, he later became a regular part of the Stockholm Shut Up & Write! community after moving nearby for work. What he appreciated most wasn't just making the time to write, but all the people he met along the way. Spending an hour working quietly alongside other creatives turned out to be a surprisingly easy way to turn strangers into fast friends and feel connected in an unfamiliar place. After relocating to London, Thomas wrote his way around the city, trying out almost all of the local groups!

Now, having settled in Nicosia, Cyprus, Thomas plans to start a Shut Up & Write! community of his own to bring together the same mix of people that made his previous groups so enjoyable: writers, artists, designers, researchers, and anyone else with a creative project they'd like to make time for.
