About Our Writing Group At the Centrale Bibliotheek, we meet on Level 3 at the tables in the country and ethnology ("landen en volkenkunde") section. When you exit the elevator or escalator at that level, head straight past the children's books. We'll be located past the first set of book stacks on your right and about five book stacks from the back. !NB - We meet in the public room at the KB Royal Library at 11 instead of the Centrale Bibliotheek on the first weekend of every month . You will always see the correct location above specific session dates if you are unsure. The KB library is directly across from the Kinderboek/literatuur museum in the same building on the Anna van Burenplein side of Den Haag CS. Go past the National Archive and through the tunnel to the revolving doors. Afterwards go up the stairs and look to your left. There is no specific table we sit at, but the public rooms are small so you should be able to spot the SU&W sign on our table. ***There is no public toilet consistently open in the building, but one passed the KB entry desk. If you plan to come regularly we suggest you sign up for a KB membership. There is a free membership where you have access to the library, but cannot check-out materials. Link in additional details. What to Expect Shut Up & Write! hosts free in-person and online writing events for writers all over the world. We aim to ensure that every writer, regardless of genre or skill level, has access to the community, accountability, and resources they need to succeed in their personal writing goals. Our events use our proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, an hour of focused writing, and a final check-in to share the hour's progress. RSVP and please arrive 10–15 minutes early to get settled at an in-person event. Our host will lead introductions and then everyone will write for a quiet, focused period of time. Afterward, we’ll have an optional time to chat and get to know each other. Members often talk about their successes and challenges as writers. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read or critique your writing. Being Late is Okay: Just show up and get settled, then check in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you are on time, please be willing to make room for any friendly latecomers. What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the library's ambient noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons.
