Join other writers twice a month with a very simple format: we get together, sit in a shared space, and start writing. No critiques and no pressure. Just focused time spent writing alongside other people doing the same thing. How does it work? Upon arriving at Aldea Café 500, you will see the space reserved for Shut Up & Write! We invite you to order a coffee or whatever you like from the variety of food and drinks offered by our hosts (this helps support them). In the first 10 to 15 minutes, we introduce ourselves and explain the setup to new visitors. We write in silence for 60 continuous minutes. We close the session, chat, and share our experiences as writers. What if I arrive late? If you arrive after we have already started writing, please join the writing session directly and quietly. Once we finish, you can introduce yourself to the rest of the group. What should I bring? Whatever you need to write (a notebook, paper, a laptop, or tablet, for example) and, if you want, headphones to block out ambient noise. Remember that this is a public space. This activity is not a writing workshop or a literary critique session, so you do not need to show anyone what you write, publish it, or read it out loud. However, some attendees often want feedback or help with their ideas. After finishing the activity, participants are free to stay at the venue to do this or to enjoy the other activities taking place there. This activity is free, but we appreciate your registration and RSVP on this website to help us estimate the number of attendees for each session.
