Where: Madison Central Library, Room 209 When: Every Saturday, 10:00 AM Join us! For over four years, we’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write for an hour in the company of other writers. See if it’s true for you. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, email, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about creating, come and get some ink on the page. What to Expect 10:00 -- Get settled in. 10:02 -- Quick introductions. 10:05 -- Timer starts, write for 1 hour! 11:05 -- Chat or take off! We’ve reserved the room till noon. Our events are a safe space for writers to work on their craft. No one will read, workshop, or critique your work. Being late is okay! Just show up and get settled, then check in with the host after the session. If you are on time, please be willing to make room for any friendly latecomers. After the hour is up, we have an optional moment to chat and get to know each other. Members often talk about their successes and challenges as writers, or dish about specific aspects of craft with which they struggle. What Should I Bring? Whatever you need to be able to write! Earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the occasional noise of keyboards. Keep your laptop charged before the event as it's not always possible to charge everyone at once. About the Group Shut Up & Write!® hosts free in-person and online international writing events. (Your excuse not to write during a Cancun vacation just got shot.) Their goal is to ensure that every writer, regardless of genre or skill level, has access to the community, accountability, and resources needed for advancement of their personal writing goals. These events use a proven formula: a few minutes of introductions, an hour of focused writing, and a final check-in to share the hour's progress.
