Join us for some focused writing time! This session is about providing a safe and calm space so that you can get your writing done. Whatever you are working on (be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, job application, melody, poem, or just plain, everyday work stuff) you are invited to write with us, in a supportive space where no one will see what you have written or give you unsolicited advice. When you show up, say hello to everyone, grab a drink, and get your writing tools ready. Once we’re all settled, we will have some quick introductions and set our goals for the session. Then, we will set a timer for 60 minutes of quiet and focused writing. After the session, you are welcome to quickly mention how it went (please, no reading/sharing writing aloud!), or also to stay longer for a chat and get to know other participants. If you don’t have time to stick around, that's totally fine, too! A few practical guidelines: Please thank our hosts by purchasing something to drink and/or eat. There aren't enough power sockets for everyone, so if you use any electronic writing devices, it is advisable to come with them fully charged. The meeting will be held in English, but please feel free to write in any language. Being late is ok: just show up and get settled, then check-in with us after the session (we will have a "Shut Up & Write!" sign). The venue has free wifi: the password is available by the counter. Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block the lounge’s overhead music or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Please RSVP at least a day in advance, so that I can reserve enough sitting space for everyone attending. I have a small dog who may join us sometimes: if you feel uncomfortable about it, please let me know in advance.
