Need some mid-week motivation? Join our Shut Up & Write! session! All types of writing are welcome! Maybe you're doing research, deep in the writing process, revising a thesis, storyboarding, planning your week, blasting through emails, or finally getting around to that Substack post you've been thinking about. Freelancers, journal keepers, remote workers, songwriters, readers, creatives and crafters are all welcome too! We don't do critiques or read-alouds. But we're all about writing together and motivating each other. After the writing time, you're welcome to stick around to chat, connect, and build our community. Wherever you are in your project, this is your space! What a session looks like: The first 10 (ish) minutes include hellos, introductions, and sharing what you'd like to work on today. Then we write for an hour. I'll post our end time in the chat. If you prefer a timer, just let me know, and I can add one too. Mics are turned off during writing time, and you're welcome to leave your camera on or off. Whatever works for you! At the end of the session, we chat about how it went. It's a great time to catch up, share tips, or even show us your latest crafting project! Group notes: Latecomers are welcome! If you're joining in late, give me a moment to let you in and say hello. If we've already started writing, I'll message in the chat and let you know how long is left on the clock. People join from all over the world. If inspiration strikes at 3 am your time, feel free to join! Our group includes both night owls and early risers. I don't call on people, so if you need to focus, feel free to say hello in the chat and get straight into it. If you need to head out early, a quick goodbye in the chat is always appreciated. Feel free to leave your mic on during the chatty sections. No need to raise your hand to speak unless you prefer to. We usually have between 10 and 20 people at our events, with a good mix of regulars and new folks. If English isn't your first language, that's totally okay. I speak Spanish too! Tech notes: If you can't use your camera or mic, no worries. Say hello in the chat and feel free to share your goal for the session there. If there's lots of background noise, you'll be muted while you're not speaking. Of course, feel free to unmute when you'd like to say something! Anyone who forgets to mute during writing time will be muted. I keep the chat open, but it might take me a little while to see your message if I'm in the flow.
