Join fellow writers each week to show up, sit down, and get words on the page. No critiques. No sharing. No pressure. Just focused writing time alongside others doing the same. After the session, you're welcome to stick around to chat, connect, and build your writing community. Wherever you are in your project, you're not doing it alone—this is your space to write. A BIT ABOUT SU&W SPRINGFIELD: Shut Up and Write Springfield meets on Discord, so you will need a discord account. Don't worry, you do not need to download anything. Using discord in your browser is just fine. You will have to "apply'" for the server, by answering a few simple questions. like those you answer in some Facebook groups. (Yes, I'm old-ish, haha). A quick note about the discord application: I set up these questions to try to dissuade discord bombers who want to log on to just mess with us. This is a new thing I have added to the server, and I am still getting used to it. Sometimes I don't notice that someone new has applied. I'm working on it, but in the meantime, let me issue a blanket apology now. I'm sorry I missed your application last week. I didn't notice the little red notification, lol. The good news is, once you're in it, you're in it, until you leave or are removed. So if I miss you one week, we would love for you to join us next time. Please feel free to message me here as well. I will keep trying to get better. We meet in the voice channel. Cameras are optional. We are a collaborative group, so if I am unable to be there for some Wednesdays, one of group members can easily facilitate, Here's a little bit more about how Shut Up and Write Sessions work: Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 7:30- SESSION 1: quick intros. 7:45- timer starts: write for 1 hour. 8:45 (the end) chat / take off / keep writing! OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 7:30 and 8:45. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just log on and get settled! We will be sure to post what time we will regroup after our writing hour, so you will know what's going on, LEAVING EARLY IS OKAY TOO. As we said, the socializing is optional. We do tend to get a little chatty after writing sometimes, so please don't feel obligated to stay if you aren't up for it. We will just look forward to seeing you next time. We strive to be a supportive group who lifts other writers up. We have space in server to share recommended reading and we welcome any questions you might have. That's it for now!
