Organizing is easier when you have the right tools at your fingertips. This section compiles all the handy resources, templates, and reference links mentioned throughout the guide (and a few extras). Consider it your organizer toolkit. Everything here is publicly accessible, so you can share relevant resources with your participants as well.
License, Branding, & Assets – The License, Branding, & Assets page offers everything you need to represent Shut Up & Write! confidently and consistently—official logos, usage guidelines, and branding assets included.
Meetup Help Center – Visit the Meetup Help Center for step-by-step guidance on using Meetup’s event tools, perfect for listing your Shut Up & Write! sessions effectively.
Printable Flyer Template – A customizable flyer you can use to promote your event locally. Add your event details (time, place, contact info) and post it on community boards or campus bulletin boards.
Table Tent Sign: – A PDF of the Shut Up & Write! table tent. Print this on cardstock or regular paper (it prints on one letter/A4 sheet) and fold it so it stands up. Place it on your table at in-person meetups so newcomers can find you easily in a café or library.
In-Person Event Checklist: – A one-page checklist to run through before and after each physical meetup (bring sign, set timer, tidy up, etc.). Useful if you like having a physical reminder list or to hand to co-hosts in training.
Online Event Checklist: –The same checklist for in-person events, with some additional things to consider for hosting online.
Code of Conduct: – The full text of the SUAW community guidelines that all members agree to. As an organizer, you have this on your side to enforce respectful behavior. It’s good to familiarize yourself with it; fortunately it’s short and common-sense.
Social Media Kit: – A folder of SUAW logos, images, and example text you can use for promoting your event on social media or emails. Contains graphics in various sizes (for Instagram, Twitter, etc.) and some sample copy for invites/posts.
Academic Organizing One-sheet: (Download link) – If you are at a university, this PDF is a summary of SUAW benefits for academic departments and a flyer to attract academic writers. Useful for pitching the idea to your department or spreading the word on campus.
Contact & Support: If you need help, have questions, or want to share a victory, reach out to us! You can contact the SUAW Community Team here. We’re here to support you.
Remember, you have an entire community behind you and a wealth of resources at your disposal. Being an organizer should be rewarding and fun, and having these tools handy will hopefully make your job easier. Happy organizing, and thank you for helping writers everywhere Shut Up & Write!
