Show Up & Write
The simplest way to get involved is the obvious one: come to a session and write.
Your presence is what makes the group work. You don’t need to arrive experienced, prepared, or even productive. Showing up is productive enough.
Organize a Group
If you’ve been to a session and want to build one in your own community, apply to become an organizer. If you haven’t, apply anyway and we’ll share how it works.
You’ll run sessions using the SUAW format: no teaching, no critiquing, just holding the table so people can write. We provide the guidance; you provide the consistency.
Donate to Keep It Going
SUAW is a nonprofit, and sessions have been free since 2007. Your donation keeps that possible:
- Platform reliability so writers can find sessions and come back
- Support for organizers and community coordination
- Independence from ads, paywalls, and data sales
You’re not funding a service. You’re keeping a public good alive.

Make Space for Your Writing
SUAW gives you regular, protected time to write. No one asks what you’re working on or whether it’s any good. You just write.

Writing alone is easy to skip. Writing next to someone who expects you to show up is not. The accountability comes from presence, not pressure.
No Performance Required
Show up however you want. Write at sessions, run them, or support the organization. There’s no bar to clear and nothing to prove.
